Weapons of Spiritual Warfare

On the spiritual battlefield between good and evil, humans are the weapons. Our political, religious and social beliefs, represents the ammunition. Satan’s kingdom of darkness, the principalities, the wicked spirits in high places that God has put here to take peace from the earth, as well as the spirits that follow God’s Kingdom of Light, are the soldiers in this spiritual warfare between the forces of good and evil. But because evil spirits are so good at deceiving us, we unwittingly become…“Weapons of Spiritual Warfare.”

While having the thought that Satan can only use us as a weapon when we have no understanding of spiritual warfare between good and evil, by allowing the angels that follow him to transform themselves into angels of light to deceive us, the Spirit chimed in with this bit of wisdom:

“The big Dog, of course, in this fight in the land of the living is Me – God’s holy Kingdom of Light from above called Jerusalem,” the Spirit began to explain. “In the hands of the Lord God Almighty, on the battlefield between good and evil, I am the Sword of the Lord. And I believe as you do when it comes to Obama (44th and first black U.S. President), he is not anointed by Satan as a king in the kingdom of Babylon, but anointed a king in the spiritual kingdom of Grecia. Still making him very much a big dog in this fight between good and evil. A fight that the average man does not understand.

“Keep in mind,” the Spirit continued educating me, “a king is a person that is anointed by a kingdom spirit. Jesus was anointed a King of the Jews by God’s Kingdom Spirit in His day as the Son of Man. The kingdom of Grecia is a principality, one of the two remaining kingdoms in the earth of the four fallen spiritual kingdoms that God had created to reign in succession to punish His elect in the southern kingdom of Israel. Kingdom spirits usually go after heads of states, making Obama a prime target, also putting him on par with Alexander the Great, who also was anointed a king in the kingdom of Grecia.

“And if this should be the case with Obama,” the Spirit continued, “and he should hear your words and repent, as the Lord said to Israel in the day: ‘a new heart I will give you. And a new Spirit – Me, the Holy Spirit, I will put within you.’” (See Ezekiel 36:26). “But I fear it may be too late. For in order to be anointed by the prince of Grecia, would mean that his good heart would have been hardened to the point where it has divorced itself from his soul, allowing this wicked spirit to enter in and dwell there. Let’s pray it’s not too late for him to repent and give his heart and soul to Jesus.

“While these kingdom spirits usually go after heads of states,” the Spirit continued, “God allowed the prince of Persia to anoint your friend Omar to help strengthen you when it comes to spiritual warfare. For the heart (angel) of man is in the hands of God.”

Before Omar passed away, I wondered while praying in the Spirit one day whether Omar had this spirit, and now believe that this or a similar spirit had influenced him to convert from Christianity as an Ordained Minister of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, to a Muslim, changing his name from Curtis to Omar.

A few days after this revelation, while hanging out at his place, the prince of Persia began to speak to me directly from the region of his mid-section, which is where I suppose our spiritual souls reside with these spirits of good and evil. Omar’s spirit said:

“Oh! you think you have figured me out. You think I am the prince of Persia. Well, you’re right. I am the prince of Persia. And I own Omar. And ain’t a damn thing you can do about it.”

It didn’t faze me because I knew what the spirit said was true. A few weeks before Omar died, I don’t recall mentioning Jesus’ name, but Omar became outraged and began to scream: “Don’t you ever mention Jesus’ name in my place again. F_ _ _!!! some Jesus,” he said. “God don’t need no partner,” and a whole bunch of nonsense. I calmly replied:

“While I will not mention Jesus’ name in your place, for I respect your place, but know that while I may not mention His name in your presence, He will always be in my heart and soul as my personal Lord and Savior,” and left it at that.

The week of his death, however, I broke that promise. I went to visit him that Monday, and was shocked to see that he could not talk or take care of himself, so his mother had come up from Macon, Georgia to Atlanta to take care of him. By Wednesday, while he could still barely talk, he was well enough for his mother to return home. But two of his female friends who were there suggested he needed to go to the hospital. He struggled to put on his shoes, then pointed at us and said “we could go.” He chose not to go to the hospital.

I said to them that “maybe he wanted to die at home.” And I said to him before I left, “I know I said I would not mention Jesus’ name. But Omar, you don’t have to go out like this! It’s never too late to give your heart to Jesus,” and left. That Friday morning we got the call that he had passed away. As a king in the kingdom of Persia, on the spiritual-battlefield between good and evil, Omar was my enemy. But he also was my friend that I loved. In this case, it was easy for me to keep the new commandment to love our enemies.

Omar was not a dumb man, and I learned a lot from hanging out with him in the ten years before I was born again in September of 1995. He graduated from Morris Brown College with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration & Political Science in 1969. He went on to receive his Masters degree in Social Work at Georgia State University. Omar loved to cook, and we had an understanding that if I would bring just a six-pack of his favorite Heineken beer, he would fix me a plate.

On one of those nights after fixing me a plate, my angel Elijah used my mouth to call him my enemy. He had prepared a baked fish meal from scratch, and when he placed the plate on the table in front of me, instead of closing my eyes and saying a silent prayer to bless the food, my heart Elijah said: “The Lord said He would prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.” He went silent for a moment while pondering what I said and said, “Oh! You’re going to call me your enemy and eat my food? How do you know I won’t poison you?”

I replied, “Because you’re not from Satan’s kingdom of darkness. You don’t come to kill, to steal and to destroy. You’re from the kingdom of Persia.” He looked at me like I was crazy, grabbed his cocaine and began to snort away. It has been nine years since Omar died. And just as the Apostle Paul had a messenger from Satan to buffet him (see 2 Cor. 12:7), I had my friend Omar, for Satan also has authority over the kingdom of Persia.

Only now can I see how Omar was instrumental in my transformation. His beating me up always led me to God for understanding. In the beginning of my transformation from darkness to Light, when I was a baby Christian, I remember standing in the doorway of his kitchen while he was cooking, just chatting away about my new found faith in Jesus. He stopped what he was doing for a moment, stood in front of me and began to punch me in my chest with his finger while loudly saying “Jesus is not God!

Omar was a big guy, over six feet tall and over two-hundred pounds, and had been a radical before becoming a Muslim. He had pioneered the Black Liberation Front in Macon, Georgia in the early 70’s. His powerful marches and civil rights demonstrations made him a marked man. He showed me clippings from The Telegraph, a Macon newspaper, where the mayor of Macon had issued a shoot to kill order for him and his members. And now this big guy was punching me in the chest telling me Jesus was not God.

After having my little feelings hurt from Omar putting me in check, I was led to ask the Lord about this while praying in the Spirit the next morning. The Spirit pointed out that nowhere in the Bible does it say Jesus is God. But that because man has no understanding of what they read in the Bible, especially the gospel according to Matthews, Mark, Luke and John, they cannot discern when it is Jesus speaking, the Spirit of the Lord or the Lord God Almighty Himself who had suddenly come from heaven to walk as One with His Father’s only begotten Son to be born of a woman.

Most religious people allow their religious dogma to replace common sense, which is why they don’t understand the Good Book. Jesus was the Lord’s flesh and blood, for They have the same Father, our heavenly Father, as Their Father. But Omar was right. And hurting my feelings only helped God to open my eyes to see that Jesus is not God.

The Spirit summed things up by revealing:

“You’re ready to fight the good fight, Robert Porter. For this cause God has chosen you as His servant to come called Elijah. God allowed the prince of Persia to anoint your friend Omar to help strengthen you to fight this battle between good and evil. He has allowed the prince of Grecia to anoint your President as a king in this war. Just stand on the Rock, the Lord God Almighty who is a Spirit, and all will be well with you.

“Restore His great truths,” the Spirit continued. “Prepare the way before Him. Before this great King of My heavenly Father, who is preparing a wedding for His Son Jesus. You’re ready to show yourself to the world. For you allowed no man but Me, Christ the Holy Spirit, to be your Teacher. You have learned your lesson well. As God’s everlasting and holy Kingdom from above, let Me use you as a weapon in this spiritual battle between good and evil. For your war is not with man, son of man, nor against political and religious ideologies, but with evil spirits doing their best to deceive as many as they can find to become…Weapons of Spiritual Warfare.”
